French Onion Soup Pizza

Let me start by apologizing for the lack of posts in the last two months or so. I wasn't really cooking as much as usual, and when I did cook, I wasn't really making a lot of interesting, fun things. I did save up a few recipes during that time though, so I have quite a few lined up to post now. Things should hopefully be back to what might be considered normal. So with that said, let's get to it...

Justin's in California right now for a conference. As much as I miss him when he's gone, I do always look forward to planning my solo meals. There are things that I love that he just can't seem to get behind, so when he's not here, I make as many of them as I can.

Taco Pizza

I recently discovered balls of pre-made pizza dough at the grocery store. Normally when Justin and I have wanted to make pizza, we've used the Pillsbury pizza dough. It's not perfect, but I like it better than the pre-made, packaged pizza crusts they sell at the grocery store. Since we moved here, however, I'd noticed these balls of fresh pizza dough and wanted to try it out. We made some cheese pizza with it a couple weeks ago and fell in love before it even came out of the oven--it smelled that good.

Texas Toast Pizza

Justin and I saw an ad for Pizza Hut's new garlic bread pizza, and the ingredients to make it at home immediately went on our grocery list. For toppings, I went with crumbled, all-chicken Italian sausage, and Justin chose crumbled chorizo. We also used slices of fresh mozzarella, my absolute favorite thing to put on pizza.

This is an extremely quick and easy weeknight meal, especially if you go with toppings that don't need to be cooked separately. All you have to do is cook the Texas toast, top with sauce, cheese, and whatever other toppings you desire, and pop them back in the oven until the cheese melts. Aside from cooking the sausage, this took literally all of 10-15 minutes to make.
